Gurugram: The latest generation of the sporty two-door BMW 4 Series Coupé saw its digital world premiere recently and is ready for launch in global markets, the German carmaker announced at its unveiling. A striking front end with a floating roofline, luxurious cabin made of top-quality materials and the best in performance, BMW rejuvenates German engineering.

The new generation 4 Series Coupé portrays bold new design and sculptures that separates it from its cousin, the latest BMW 3 Series Sedan.
New styling features include the upright BMW kidney grille angling forward at the front end of the coupé, the athletically sculpted shoulders above the rear wheel arches, the car’s dynamically stretched proportions and its wide tracks.
The standalone visual design features give the 4 Series Coupé a significantly sharper character and sporting elegance, signature to Coupés.
The new car is significantly larger in proportions than its forerunner, making drivability effortless.
Standard LED headlights with extremely slim contours and the darkened LED rear lights with eye-catching L-shaped light bars makes it stand out from the crowd.
The most distinctive feature, though, remains the large front vertical kidney grille, that follows the tradition of legendary BMW coupés and pre-war sports cars.

Windscreen comes with acoustic glass and new three-zone automatic climate control fitted as standard.
It also gets the new sports leather steering wheel, newly developed sports seats as standard, knee pads on the centre console and two seats in the rear with defined individual-seat character.

Ambient lighting with Welcome Light Carpet, Hi-Fi loudspeaker system and auxiliary heating can be controlled by smartphone or BMW Display Key, available as options.
BMW Operating System 7 enables individual and personalised screens on the Control Display and instrument cluster, plus use of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.
Driver Assistance systems
The 4 series coupé comes with significantly wider range of driver assistance systems as standard than its predecessor, such as Front collision warning with brake input and Lane Departure Warning with lane return and Speed Limit Information.
Optional Driving Assistant Professional includes features such as Steering and Lane Control Assistant with new Active Navigation and the automatic formation of emergency lane function. Park Distance Control with front and rear sensors as standard.
The Handling: Dynamics and Mechanicals

Precisely optimised body structure and chassis technology ensure characteristic performance attributes. Bespoke package of bracing elements increases body rigidity.
Weight-minimised body (finely balanced 50:50 weight distribution) and chassis construction increases body rigidity.
Lower centre of gravity and a wider rear-axle track than the 3 series sedan provide a lower, ground-hugging drive and traction.
Lift-related dampers with bespoke tuning come fitted standard.
Targeted optimisation of aerodynamics through the vertical kidney grille caters to the engine’s high cooling air requirement.
The Performance: Engine specifications
The 4 series will be available in 5 model options, spanning three petrol engines and a diesel engine. Two 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrols offer 184hp (420i) and 258hp (430i), while a 48V mild-hybrid 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel delivers 190hp (420d). Two, six-cylinder, in-line diesel engines will join the line -up in March 2021.
The sedan will be available in five model variants with the BMW M440i xDrive Coupé debuting as the range-topper. All engines are paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

While the last generation 4 series was on sale in India, the company has not made any commitments in this matter for the new 4 Series Coupé. If introduced, the BMW 4 series coupé will compete with likes of Audi A5/S5 and Mercedes C-Class.
